Stuttgart - Mercedes-Benz-Museum
In the modern Mercedes-Benz Museum (opened in may 2006) in Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt You can find 120 years of automotive history: 1,500 exhibits - of which 160 vehicles - to illustrate the development of the car from first to present day. The architecture of the building is oriented to the mission of the museum to showcase not only the history of the Mercedes-Benz, but also open up a view into the future. The "UN-Studio" of Dutch architects Ben van Berkel and Caroline Bos have implemented this task in a special way. The building is modeled inside as a DNA-helix. The most striking feature here is the way that travel the visitors: they begin to explore the exhibition is not down at the entrance, but they are taken by elevators to the top floor. Here they have a choice of two tours, where they can go through the museum from top to bottom.
